Disappointing Beauty Products of 2016

Hey guys, so I'm doing my very first yearly Disappointing Beauty Products (of 2016)! I talk about my favorite products all the time, so why not talk about the products that didn't work out for me? Of course, I'm in no way bashing any brand! The products that I'll be listing are the ones that didn't work out for me, so it could  work out for you! I'm also mentioning products that other beauty bloggers and influencers  hyped up, even though it wasn't worth it. So ya, this is just my opinion! I'm sure some of you may disagree with me and that's completely okay! Let's just get into this post!

Can you guess which products before reading this post?

-Anastasia Beverly Hillls Glow Kit in Ultimate Glow
I'm so sad that I had to include this product in this post! I've tried so hard to like this product, but it's just not worth it! This was the limited edition Glow Kit for the holidays. It came with different packaging with 6 beautiful shimmery shades! Now, this is nothing like the original Glow Kits. The formula is completely different! I'm guessing that this palette was made in a different lab (brands manufacture in different labs during the holidays for efficiency and mass production), because we know that Anastasia could have done a lot better! First of all, this kit lacks pigmentation. It's not smooth or pigmented like the original kits! It also has a tone of glitter, which doesn't bother me, but the glitter in this kit is patchy. The glitter just gets everywhere! It's also difficult to blend. It's just not worth it and it's a shame, because the shades are truly stunning! I didn't end up returning this product, because I told myself that I would use it as eyeshadow! This is probably the biggest disappointment of 2016, because I was really looking forward to this palette!

-Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette: The Rose Gold Edition
This palette is another heartbreak. I tried so hard to fall in love with it, but it just fell short for me. The color scheme is absolutely stunning and the textured shadows are beyond gorgeous! However, the formula could have been a lot better! I actually really like the textured and shimmery shades in this palette! They're difficult to pick up with brushes, so use your fingers for them! They swatch really nicely! Even on the lids, they're opaque! Now moving onto the mattes, they just didn't do it for me. First of all, they're dry. They're pigmented, but they're not smooth, so they're very difficult to blend! I have to spend 3 times the time on these eyeshadows when it comes to blending or else they just look patchy! Other than that, they're long wearing and there's no fallout to them! The price also doesn't do justice to this palette! I spent almost $100CAD and it's definitely not worth that price tag! A lot of people really hyped up this palette for no reason! I love Huda and she's one of my favorite bloggers, but I expected better from this palette! I really really really wanted to like this palette!

I wish that these worked out! I was most excited for them!

-Sephora Colorful Duo Reflects Eyeshadow in Sea Horse
It's been a hot minute, since I've purchased from the actual Sephora brand. I find that their products are either a hit or a miss. Unfortunately, this product is a miss for me. First of all, it's very dry! It swatches patchy. I have to pack on this product with a wet brush to get the finish that I want or else, it just appears uneven on my lids. It's also hard to blend! It's just not what I expected! I really do love the shade and I love the reflect effect that it gives! Just the formula could have been better!

Gorgeous shade, but the formula needs work!

-Wet n Wild Coloricon Glitter Single in Brass
I bought this, because it was $0.99 and now I understand why it was $0.99. This stuff is just patchy and chunky. It's not smooth and the glitter separates. It also transfers everywhere! It's not something that you would put all over your lid! I only use it in the inner corners of my eyes now and it's okay. It doesn't have the best formula. I just expected better from it, since Wet n Wild have really good products (especially for the price!)

Just not what I was looking for

-Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
I bought this, because the hype was real! However, this is a no go for me. This is another product that I tried so hard to like! It just makes me look greasy! I just don't get that dewy or glowing within kind of look. It also makes my eye liner run. I just look like a hot mess, when I put this on. I know the key is to use a little bit, but even when I spritz it twice, I just don't like the result. My MAC Fix Plus does a tremendous job and it's less than half the price of this! Maybe this works if you have dry skin, but for my combination skin, it was a disaster!

It's not worth the hype in my opinion!

-Nars Hardwired Eyeshadow in Outer Limits
This is yet another heartbreak, because I also tried to love this! Again, it fell really short for me! I actually reviewed it on my blog here, so check it out. Long story short, this stuff is just patchy. It doesn't give you that opaque glittery finish that you would expect. It doesn't have much color pay off, you just pick up the glitter. The glitter also transfers everywhere! It has fallout to it. It's just not what I expected!

So stunning, but the formula is just not good!

-Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette
Another disappointment was the Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette. I'm a huge KVD fan, but this palette was just a no go. I did a full review on it here. The matte eyeshadows are patchy and dry. A few of the shimmery shades are also patchy and don't blend well. I like a few of the shades, but most of the palette is just horrible. There's also fallout with a few shades. It's just not the usual KVD formula for some reason. I really wanted to love this palette, since it has really beautiful shades, but the formula needs work!

The colors are absolutely stunning! Just wish the formula was amazing!

-Ouai Dry Shampoo
Another product that was really hyped up was the Ouai Dry Shampoo. Every beauty blogger and influencer was raving about this dry shampoo, but it's just not worth it. I can't stand the smell, it's just way too strong! The packaging was poorly made, because mine is a wreck. The dry shampoo itself is okay. It absorbs the oil and all, but my hair doesn't feel all that fresh. I've tried many dry shampoos that work better than this one and they're a lot more affordable! It just didn't live up to the hype for me! I did a full review on it here,  if you want to read about it in depth!

I've used better dry shampoos!

-Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi Palette
This palette is stunning and I was really excited to use it! The shades are stunning, but there are definitely plenty of dupes for them. I like the whole concept of the gel powder formula, but I had a hard time picking up the product with my brushes. It's just formulated differently and it didn't work too well with me. Also, the contour shade in this palette is way too light to contour with. It's also warm, so it definitely acts more like a bronzer. The blush is way too sheer, I have the hardest time with that shade. I really have to swirl my brush in to get the color pay off. The only thing that I found nice was the highlighter! I just expected better for $55, it's just not all that amazing! I did a full review here. I wish that I didn't purchase it!

Stunning palette, but the formula could have been better!

That's it you guys for my Disappointments of 2016. I'm sorry that I posted it so late! My plate is completely full, so I'm trying my best to catch up on everything! I hope that you guys enjoyed reading this post! Again, maybe some of these products work really well for you, but they just didn't for me! So ya, I have my Bite Beauty Lip Liner review coming up soon, so stay tuned for that!
