March 2016 Haul (Makeup)

Hey guys! Wow, I realized that in March I only spoke about skincare products! I hope you guys still found the reviews interesting! Honestly, I just reviewed what's been on my list for awhile! I didn't do it on purpose or anything, but in April, I'll definitely be talking more about makeup! There's a lot of collections that came out this month! But anyways, let's get into this haul! I haven't been splurging a lot! I'm actually really proud of myself! This whole month, I haven't bought anything from Sephora! Like, how crazy is that?! I always purchase from Sephora, like every month! I honestly gave myself a pat on the back! But, there's a lot of products that I want from Sephora! I'm just waiting for the VIB sale!

My March Haul

Alright, so let's talk about my purchases from Walmart. I went in to purchase the L'Oréal Infallible Foundation! I'm almost out of mine, so I wanted to restock! I purchased the shade Sun Beige. I was using Fresh Beige and I find it's a bit light for me. Like, I have to bronze my face for it to match me perfectly, so I wanted to try a shade up. I swatched it in store and it seems like a pretty good match, so we'll see how it goes (I still haven't opened this)! Also, I purchased the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Seduction. I've tried this on and let me say, I'm not a fan of it. First of all, it's not matte, it's more of a satin finish. Secondly, it doesn't dry and it transfers! This is more of a lip cream (like the Nyx Matte Lip Creams), so it's not going to dry and it's not long wearing! It feels hydrating on the lips, but I wanted a legitimate matte liquid lipstick, so that's why I was disappointed. I really thought this was going to be a liquid lipstick.

Gotta stock up on the Infallible

Next, I purchased the Dove Dry Spray, which is a anti-perspirant. You know how they say deodorants are bad, so I wanted to try something else. I'm not sure if this is any better though, I still have to do my research! I've used this several times and it's pretty good! I don't have to worry about smelling bad. By the way, I got the Cucumber scented one and it smells okay. I find my Dove deodorant in Cucumber smelt better. I also purchased the Dove Go Fresh Body Wash. This is probably my 5th one. I absolutely love this body wash and it smells amazing! It leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated!

I love Dove products!

Next, I purchased the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Palette from The Bay. So, Estee Lauder is back at it again with the Bronze Goddess collection! The highlighter from last year is also available on The Bay's website! Here's a review on that highlighter, if you guys are interested: http://makeupcheckbydivya.blogspot.ca/2015/03/estee-lauder-bronze-goddess.html. I'm going to be doing a review on it soon, so I'm not going to say much about it! But, it looks stunning and it's a perfect palette to throw in your purse! It comes with a highlighter, blush and bronzer! I should be uploading the review sometime next week, so look out for that!

The new Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi Palette

My last purchase was from Mac online. So, Mac reduced their prices on eyeshadow refills and  palettes! Before the eyeshadow refills retailed for $12CAD and now, they're $8CAD! They're a lot more affordable now and it gave me a reason to purchase them! If you been following my blog since last year, then you know that I started a MAC palette. I got the double sided palette only for eyeshadows! I completed one side and didn't really have much on the other side until now! Here is the link to my "What's in my MAC Eyeshadow Palette":http://makeupcheckbydivya.blogspot.ca/2015/06/whats-in-my-mac-eyeshadow-palette.html. So ya, I picked up 9 eyeshadows. I'm not going to be describing each color of the eyeshadow or anything, because I'm almost done my palette and I'll be doing a separate review on them! So, just give me a couple of weeks and that review will be up! But, if you never tried a MAC eyeshadow before and you want to know how I feel about the formula, just click on the link that I posted above! I purchased the shades Nylon, Retrospeck, Honesty, Haux, Silver Ring, Cork, Blackberry, Plumage and Charcoal Brown. I tried to get some fun colors, but I did get a few neutrals. I'm still missing 3 shades. I'm going to have to get a matte black for sure. I'm not sure which other shades to get, but I want them to be bold and different. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
I'm so excited to play with these!

So, that concludes this haul. It was really small. The Sephora VIB sale actually starts next week! I'm going to be making my list soon, so if you guys want me to write a detailed post on when the sale starts and some suggestions, let me know! I still haven't got an invite yet, but I really hope that I can make it! I couldn't attend the last event in December and last year when I went in the Spring, I didn't have much time. I swear so much to do these days, it's crazy! Hope you guys are having a great week!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics: Velour Lip Scrub Review

Hey guys, so I finally decided to review the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Lip Scrubs! I been loving these just so much, that I had to mention them on my blog! As you know, the weather (well at least here in Montreal) has been pretty dry. Like, it's finally getting warm here now, but the last few months haven't been the best for my skin. My skin has just been so dry, like I don't even know why, I moisturize my skin every day and it's still dry. Even my lips were super dry. However, this lip scrub has really helped me get through the winter. I been using the lip scrub by Fresh, but I'm not a fan of the scent. So, when I saw these Jeffree Star Cosmetics lip scrubs, my jaw dropped! Hello, they have Mojito and Rootbeer flavored scrubs! Like, I just had to give them a try!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Lip Scrubs

So, let's talk about the packaging. First of all, you can't go wrong with pink packaging! Jeffree Star is the only one with this bold pink packaging! His products stand out in anyone's makeup collection! I also love the rose gold print on the lid! It just puts the whole look together and it feels like a high end brand! Like, hands down Jeffree Star has one of the best packaging in the market! It's girly, but classy at the same time! The tub of the lip scrub is also huge! It comes with 30g of product, which is a lot of product! I feel like, I'll never finish these tubs! I been using it for months now and it looks like I barely touched it! The packaging is very sturdy and you don't have to worry about it spilling everywhere! These lip scrubs come in 5 flavours; Spearmint, Mojito, Strawberry Gum, Rootbeer and Pumpkin Spice Latte. These are also vegan and cruelty free! They're also edible! Like, I'm not going to lie, I got a bit in my mouth once and I kind of freaked out. But, it actually tasted so good and it said on the packaging that you can actually lick away the scrub! I don't recommend you start eating it, but if you get it in your mouth don't worry! It's not dangerous! If you thought all that was amazing about this product, just wait until you see (or read in this case) how much it costs. Ready?! It retails for $12USD! I can't believe it's so affordable! I don't think I've seen a huge tub of lip scrub for that price before! You can purchase this online at the Jeffree Star Cosmetics website. You can also find it at Beautylish or Morphe Brushes. They may also be available at other retail stores, I'm just not aware of them!

Tell me how cute this packaging is!

I love everything about it!

Now, let's get into the product itself. It's basically a sugar scrub. It's kind of thick, but it's not dry! Depending on which flavor you choose, the color is different. So, all you do is scoop the product out and rub it on your lips in circular motion. You leave it on for a few minutes (about 2 minutes) and then, you can wipe it off with a tissue or like the packaging says lick it away! I personally use this lip scrub twice a week before going to bed. You can use it during the day or even just before you apply lipstick or any lip product. If you feel like your lips are really chapped, then you can use it everyday! It's not harsh at all and it feels soothing on your lips!

They smell so yummy! Also, tastes yummy!

What do I think of this product? Well, it gently exfoliated my lips and left my lips feeling super soft! I also love how it's edible, so that you don't have to worry about getting it in your mouth. I find you get results instantly and if you don't see them the day of, just give it a few days! I find my lipsticks and liquid lipsticks just glided on my lips so much better! My lips also looked a lot healthier! I had no dead skin to worry about! Ever since I started using it, I honestly had no complaints about my lips! It really helped me get through this dry weather!

Last look at these!

I highly recommend these lip scrubs! It's worth every penny and I love the results! I also love the fun flavors that they come in! I don't think I've ever seen something like this in the market before! Like, I love Jeffree Star's creativity! So far, his liquid lipsticks and lip scrubs have been amazing! He's also launching highlighters and eyeshadows soon, that I'm DYING to get! Like honestly, if you haven't tried anything from Jeffree Star Cosmetics then you're missing out on life!

Bioré: Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub Review

Hey guys! So if you read my previous post, then you know that Influenster sent me these complimentary Bioré goodies for testing purposes. I received both the cleanser and scrub. These are new products that Bioré added to their line this year. I already reviewed the Bioré Baking Soda Cleanser. If you guys are interested in reading that, here is the link :   http://makeupcheckbydivya.blogspot.ca/2016/03/biore-baking-soda-pore-cleanser-review.html . This post will be on the scrub that they sent me! So ya, let's get into the review!

Bioré Baking Soda goodies!

Let's talk about the packaging first. It comes in a plastic bottle. You just push the navy blue part to access the product. The hole isn't big, so you don't have to worry about getting too much product. The lid also shuts firmly, so you don't have to worry about it spilling! The product itself looks like baking soda. It's a powder scrub. It has a fresh scent to it, just like the cleanser (I love the scent!). It comes with 128g of product. You can purchase this at any drugstore that sells Bioré! I don't know the exact price, but I'm assuming it retails for $10-13CAD, which isn't bad, since you get a ton of product!

Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub

Let's talk about what this product is meant to do. The powder scrub activates with water to form gentle, fizzy face scrub that dissolves oil and impurities while gently exfoliating the skin. You can use it 2-3 times a week!

Another look at it

It's really simple to use. Firstly, you want to wet your face. It's best to use warm water, so that your pores can open up. I find the best time to deep clean your pores is right after a shower, so that your pores are already opened! You dispense a quarter amount of product into your hand. Then, you add water to activate the scrub. The more water you add, the softer the cleansing action. Then, you massage it all over your face. Then, rinse thoroughly.

I been using this for about a month now. I really do like this product! I find you don't get fast results like it states on the packaging, but throughout the month, you do see a difference! I find it does deep clean my pores and my skin just looks a lot healthier! I also like how it's not harsh and how I didn't get red after using this! I do find the scrub can be drying. I didn't need to use a moisturizer after the cleanser, but after the scrub, I highly recommend it! My skin doesn't get flakey, but it just feels dry. The results are also better if you let it sit on your face for 3-5 minutes before washing off the scrub and as mentioned, use warm water to open up your pores! Overall, this product works really well on it's own, but it just doesn't give you instant results. So, keep using it 2-3 times a week and you'll see the results throughout the month!

Now, is the results better when you use the scrub with the cleanser? I didn't really see a huge difference. The cleanser obviously makes my face feel super clean and soft, but in terms of cleaning my pores, I find the scrub works well on it's own. It's not an obligation to purchase the cleanser for better results, because you're not going to see a huge difference. However, the cleanser is a really nice product to clean your face!

Another look at both these goodies

Overall, I like this scrub. It's not too expensive and gets the work done! It did take me several weeks to see a difference! So, if you're someone that looks for instant results, I don't really recommend this scrub. I'm not going to lie, I like products that give instant results and for that reason, I probably won't be purchasing the scrub, but I do love the cleanser and I would purchase that! I like the whole concept of the scrub and it does come with a ton of product, I just wish the results were faster! So ya, did you guys try these products out? What are your thoughts on it?

Bioré: Baking Soda Pore Cleanser Review

Hey guys, so Influenster sent me some Bioré goodies. I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. I received both the Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and the Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub, which are new products that Bioré released this year! I love Bioré! I love their strips that they have! They work really well, so when I received these products, I was so excited! Baking soda actually really helps deep clean your pores, so I'm not surprised that it's a part of Bioré's line this year! This review will only be on the cleanser, so stay tuned for the review on the scrub! It should be up in a few days! So ya, let's get into this review!
The goodies that I received from Influenster!

This product comes in a regular plastic packaging with a pump. It comes with 200ml. The product itself is transparent. You can purchase this product at any drugstores that sell Bioré! I currently saw them on display at Pharmaprix, so I'm sure this is already available at most drugstores! I actually couldn't find the actual price of this product, but it for sure ranges somewhere between $8-10CAD.

The Baking Soda Pore Cleanser

I'm going to give you guys a brief description of what this product is meant to do. It's supposed to deep clean to remove dirt and impurities from your pores, while gently exfoliating away the dead cells. It's supposed to leave your skin feeling amazingly clean, soft and smooth. You can actually use this cleanser daily. It's also not rough on dry spots! It's really simple to use. All you do is wet your face with water. You pump the cleanser into your hands and work into a lather. Then, you massage it over your face. Then, you rinse. Since, it's a cleanser, you don't have to leave it on your face for long. I personally just massage my face for roughly 2 minutes, so that the product is actually working into my skin! If you really want this to be effective, of course it's best to use the scrub first and then use the cleanser!

Amazing results when you use both of them together!

I've used this everyday for 2 weeks and let me say, I do like it. My skin definitely feels really soft and clean! It's super smooth and it just looks healthy! I didn't find it rough at all. It gently exfoliated my skin. I didn't experience any redness or anything! I find one pump is more than enough to cover your whole face! It also has a nice scent to it! It's not overpowering and it just smells so fresh! Does it deep clean to remove dirt and impurities from my pores? Not really. I find when I use the cleanser on it's own, it just cleans my face, but it doesn't deep clean my pores. When you use the scrub, then yes, I find it does make a difference and you see it throughout the week. Also, I noticed that when you use warm water, it works better to somewhat clean your pores. When you use cold water, then yes, you get that nice cool feeling, but it doesn't do much to your pores. So ya, if you really want to deep clean your pores, you're going to need more than this cleanser. However, this stuff is also amazing when it comes to removing your makeup! I love to cake my face and sometimes, I have to  apply the cleanser twice to take everything off. With this cleanser, I got everything off in one try! Also, when I use cleansers, I normally have to apply a moisturizer after washing my face, because my skin tends to feel a bit dry. With this cleanser, it didn't make my skin dry at all. I can easily get away without applying moisturizer! Overall, I do love this product as a cleanser, but not so much as a deep cleanser for pores!
Another look at it!

Would I repurchase this product? Absolutely! For the price, you can't go wrong with this cleanser! I find it works effectively just like most brands at Sephora and it's like half the price of it (even more less than that!). Bioré has always been one of my favorite drugstore skincare brands and I'm glad that this product didn't disappoint me! Yes, I wish it did deep clean my pores like it says on the package, but that's why it's best to use the scrub with it for better results! As mentioned, the post for the scrub will be up soon! The reason, I didn't post them at the same time is because I want to test the scrub for 3 weeks. I wanted to try an extra week without using it with this cleanser to see if it's effective on it's own! So ya, I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Once again, thank you Influenster for sending me these goodies!
