Disappointing Beauty Products of 2016

Hey guys, so I'm doing my very first yearly Disappointing Beauty Products (of 2016)! I talk about my favorite products all the time, so why not talk about the products that didn't work out for me? Of course, I'm in no way bashing any brand! The products that I'll be listing are the ones that didn't work out for me, so it could  work out for you! I'm also mentioning products that other beauty bloggers and influencers  hyped up, even though it wasn't worth it. So ya, this is just my opinion! I'm sure some of you may disagree with me and that's completely okay! Let's just get into this post!

Can you guess which products before reading this post?

-Anastasia Beverly Hillls Glow Kit in Ultimate Glow
I'm so sad that I had to include this product in this post! I've tried so hard to like this product, but it's just not worth it! This was the limited edition Glow Kit for the holidays. It came with different packaging with 6 beautiful shimmery shades! Now, this is nothing like the original Glow Kits. The formula is completely different! I'm guessing that this palette was made in a different lab (brands manufacture in different labs during the holidays for efficiency and mass production), because we know that Anastasia could have done a lot better! First of all, this kit lacks pigmentation. It's not smooth or pigmented like the original kits! It also has a tone of glitter, which doesn't bother me, but the glitter in this kit is patchy. The glitter just gets everywhere! It's also difficult to blend. It's just not worth it and it's a shame, because the shades are truly stunning! I didn't end up returning this product, because I told myself that I would use it as eyeshadow! This is probably the biggest disappointment of 2016, because I was really looking forward to this palette!

-Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette: The Rose Gold Edition
This palette is another heartbreak. I tried so hard to fall in love with it, but it just fell short for me. The color scheme is absolutely stunning and the textured shadows are beyond gorgeous! However, the formula could have been a lot better! I actually really like the textured and shimmery shades in this palette! They're difficult to pick up with brushes, so use your fingers for them! They swatch really nicely! Even on the lids, they're opaque! Now moving onto the mattes, they just didn't do it for me. First of all, they're dry. They're pigmented, but they're not smooth, so they're very difficult to blend! I have to spend 3 times the time on these eyeshadows when it comes to blending or else they just look patchy! Other than that, they're long wearing and there's no fallout to them! The price also doesn't do justice to this palette! I spent almost $100CAD and it's definitely not worth that price tag! A lot of people really hyped up this palette for no reason! I love Huda and she's one of my favorite bloggers, but I expected better from this palette! I really really really wanted to like this palette!

I wish that these worked out! I was most excited for them!

-Sephora Colorful Duo Reflects Eyeshadow in Sea Horse
It's been a hot minute, since I've purchased from the actual Sephora brand. I find that their products are either a hit or a miss. Unfortunately, this product is a miss for me. First of all, it's very dry! It swatches patchy. I have to pack on this product with a wet brush to get the finish that I want or else, it just appears uneven on my lids. It's also hard to blend! It's just not what I expected! I really do love the shade and I love the reflect effect that it gives! Just the formula could have been better!

Gorgeous shade, but the formula needs work!

-Wet n Wild Coloricon Glitter Single in Brass
I bought this, because it was $0.99 and now I understand why it was $0.99. This stuff is just patchy and chunky. It's not smooth and the glitter separates. It also transfers everywhere! It's not something that you would put all over your lid! I only use it in the inner corners of my eyes now and it's okay. It doesn't have the best formula. I just expected better from it, since Wet n Wild have really good products (especially for the price!)

Just not what I was looking for

-Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
I bought this, because the hype was real! However, this is a no go for me. This is another product that I tried so hard to like! It just makes me look greasy! I just don't get that dewy or glowing within kind of look. It also makes my eye liner run. I just look like a hot mess, when I put this on. I know the key is to use a little bit, but even when I spritz it twice, I just don't like the result. My MAC Fix Plus does a tremendous job and it's less than half the price of this! Maybe this works if you have dry skin, but for my combination skin, it was a disaster!

It's not worth the hype in my opinion!

-Nars Hardwired Eyeshadow in Outer Limits
This is yet another heartbreak, because I also tried to love this! Again, it fell really short for me! I actually reviewed it on my blog here, so check it out. Long story short, this stuff is just patchy. It doesn't give you that opaque glittery finish that you would expect. It doesn't have much color pay off, you just pick up the glitter. The glitter also transfers everywhere! It has fallout to it. It's just not what I expected!

So stunning, but the formula is just not good!

-Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette
Another disappointment was the Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette. I'm a huge KVD fan, but this palette was just a no go. I did a full review on it here. The matte eyeshadows are patchy and dry. A few of the shimmery shades are also patchy and don't blend well. I like a few of the shades, but most of the palette is just horrible. There's also fallout with a few shades. It's just not the usual KVD formula for some reason. I really wanted to love this palette, since it has really beautiful shades, but the formula needs work!

The colors are absolutely stunning! Just wish the formula was amazing!

-Ouai Dry Shampoo
Another product that was really hyped up was the Ouai Dry Shampoo. Every beauty blogger and influencer was raving about this dry shampoo, but it's just not worth it. I can't stand the smell, it's just way too strong! The packaging was poorly made, because mine is a wreck. The dry shampoo itself is okay. It absorbs the oil and all, but my hair doesn't feel all that fresh. I've tried many dry shampoos that work better than this one and they're a lot more affordable! It just didn't live up to the hype for me! I did a full review on it here,  if you want to read about it in depth!

I've used better dry shampoos!

-Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi Palette
This palette is stunning and I was really excited to use it! The shades are stunning, but there are definitely plenty of dupes for them. I like the whole concept of the gel powder formula, but I had a hard time picking up the product with my brushes. It's just formulated differently and it didn't work too well with me. Also, the contour shade in this palette is way too light to contour with. It's also warm, so it definitely acts more like a bronzer. The blush is way too sheer, I have the hardest time with that shade. I really have to swirl my brush in to get the color pay off. The only thing that I found nice was the highlighter! I just expected better for $55, it's just not all that amazing! I did a full review here. I wish that I didn't purchase it!

Stunning palette, but the formula could have been better!

That's it you guys for my Disappointments of 2016. I'm sorry that I posted it so late! My plate is completely full, so I'm trying my best to catch up on everything! I hope that you guys enjoyed reading this post! Again, maybe some of these products work really well for you, but they just didn't for me! So ya, I have my Bite Beauty Lip Liner review coming up soon, so stay tuned for that!

Kylie Cosmetics: Lip Kits Review

Hey guys, so I just wanted to tell you that I won't be posting the Avon products review anymore. I forgot to mention this when I wrote my January Favorites post. The Avon representative that gifted me the products doesn't work for Avon anymore, so I figured that I would just leave it, since you can't buy the products online. You have to look for your local Avon representative! So, I'll just leave it! If you want, add me on Snapchat at divyapatel_mua and I can talk about it there, just leave me a message! Anyways, let's focus on these Lip Kits from Kylie Cosmetics. Now, I wasn't planning on getting these at first, but I just been getting so many questions about them. I also been reading really good reviews about these, so I decided to give it a go. Kylie Cosmetics has been really successful and they've released so much! For a brand that's still fairly new, they been on a roll. Of course, the main reason is because it's Kylie Jenner's brand, but from all the reviews, her products seem great! A lot of people rave about them. I know in the beginning, she had a lot of issues, but she did a good job fixing everything! So ya, let's just get into this review!

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits

Before I get into the packaging, I just wanted you guys to know that I'll only be talking about the shades Dolce K and Love Bite. I also ordered the shade Vixen, but since it's a part of a limited edition collection, I won't be talking about it (it may not be available anymore).

All 3 Lip Kits that I purchased!

Let's start off with the packaging. Each Lip Kit comes with a Lip Liner and Liquid Lipstick that comes in a rectangular box. The top has the name of the shade and the shade itself. The side of the box and the lips also has the corresponding shade. So, if you have multiple Kylie Lip Kits, you can easily find the shade that you're looking for! I actually really like the packaging that the products come in! It's bold and unique! The Liquid Lipstick itself comes in a regular liquid lipstick packaging. It's nothing special, but it looks nice! It's see through so that you can see the shade and it has details in black. It's also sturdy, so you can definitely travel with it! It comes with 3.25ml of product. I really like the doe foot applicator. It's slim, so that you can easily line your lips with it (something that I do before filling in my lips with the product, when I don't use a lip liner). You can get a nice precise application! The Lip Liner is also in the basic packaging. You have the shade on the tip of it.  It comes with 1.0g of product. Each Lip Kit retails for $29USD (limited edition kits retail for $30USD). I'll be honest, when I first heard that Kylie Jenner was going to have her own cosmetics line, I was expecting her prices to be a lot higher, like high end brands. So, it was nice to see that she kept it affordable! I think $29USD is an amazing price, since you do get 2 products! For Canadians, it does get expensive due to the exchange rate and customs! I think in the end, each kit came out to $38CAD. Again, you're getting 2 products, so it's not that bad! A liquid lipstick at Sephora is normally $25 and then you have taxes to pay! You can of course purchase the Lip Liner and Liquid Lipstick separately (it's nice that she has that option)! You can only purchase Kylie's products on the main Kylie Cosmetics website here. Don't purchase her stuff on Ebay or anything, because there's a lot of fake products! You don't know what the fake products are made out of! They can be made with toxic ingredients!

The Lip Kit in Dolce K

The Lip Kit in Love Bite

Let's get into the shades now. Dolce K is a beautiful medium-dark beige. This is legit the perfect everyday shade for someone that has medium to dark skin! If you're fair or have light skin, this will definitely suit you, but it'll just be a dark nude on you. This is definitely that nude that's trending. It literally goes with any look!

Love Bite is a medium plum brown. This is another shade that suits literally any skin tone! This shade just looks so nice with any makeup! It's not typically a everyday shade for me, but it's definitely a go to shade when I'm doing a neutral look or looks with gold eyeshadow! This and gold eyeshadow just goes so well together!

Now, let's get into the formula. I know that a lot of people were complaining that the formulas are different depending on the shade. When I used these 2 shades, I found the formula to be the same, so I'll just write a general review for them! Let's start off with the Lip Liner. They're really pigmented and glide on the lips effortlessly. They're really smooth on the lips and I didn't find them to be drying. Both shades are completely matte. I found the Lip Liner to be really comfortable throughout the day (I've worn the Lip Liners on their own several times). It's also super long wearing! I would say that if you drink and eat, you can go a good 8 hours without having them fade away completely. The shade Dolce K is a really nice nude base for any nude shades. I especially love to use this as a base for light lipsticks, so that it appears darker and more suitable for my skin tone! Love Bite is also a really nice base for any plum tone lipsticks. The tip doesn't break easily like most lip liners, which is always a plus! Overall, I'm super impressed with these Lip Liners! They're worth every penny!

Dolce K

Love Bite

Moving onto the Liquid Lipsticks! They're super pigmented! You only need one swipe! The texture on this is more on the liquid side (unlike most liquid lipsticks, which are moussey), but it dries pretty fast! I found them to be quite comfortable on the lips! I didn't find them drying or anything and it didn't settle into my lip lines. The finish on these is completely matte! These don't budge when they're dry! They're also super long wearing! I've worn these up to 12 hours! When you drink or eat, it slightly fades away, but barely! In the span of 12 hours, they lasted on my lips really well! I needed very minimal touch up! I even felt like I can go on another 5 hours and it would still not fade away completly!  I'm really impressed with the staying power of these! However, since they're super long wearing, they can be difficult to take off. With Dolce K, it wasn't a big issue. However, with Love Bite, I had to really rub my lips to get the color off! However, when I used a oil base cleanser, it did take them off right away (so that's the trick)! I would say that I love everything about Kylie's Liquid Lipsticks, but the one thing that I CAN'T stand is the smell of these! I'm terrible at describing scents, but it falls in between vanilla and butterscotch. I don't have a problem with sweet scents (I actually love vanilla), but this just smells horrible. It's like the Liquid Lipsticks are going bad or something. The scent doesn't stay with you throughout the day, but when applying it, it's just horrible! Other than that, I have no complains!

What the Lip Kit in Dolce K looks like on!

What the Lip Kit in Love Bite looks like on!

Bottom line, I do really like the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits! It was really smart of Kylie to create these kits! I know that lining your lips with liquid lipstick isn't always easy, so it's nice that you get a set with both liquid lipstick and lip liner! I also love the shades that I picked up! They compliment so many looks and they're definitely suitable for any skin tone! Will I be purchasing more Lip Kits? Of course, I think that overall the price is worth the quality! I just hope that she makes non scented Liquid Lipsticks though, because I do find the smell is horrible! So ya, I hope that I answered all of your questions! If you want me to review anything else in particular, please let me know! I hope that you're all having a great weekend!

January Favorites 2017 (Makeup)

Hey guys, so I'm a little late on my January Favorites, but here it is! I was a lot busier this month than I thought! I just feel like everything is happening all at once, so I've been a little bit overwhelmed! I haven't had the chance to play with that much makeup. I tried switching it up and all, but I swear, I always go for my holy grail products! Like, once I love a product, I never go back to anything! But ya, I have a few new products that I ended up really liking!

January Favorites!

The first product that I wanted to mention is The Estee Edit Glow Face Palette. I purchased this in the beginning of January and I've been obsessed with it ever since! It comes with 6 shades, all super versatile as face products. You can use them as highlighters, blush toppers, bronzer toppers and eyeshadows! I've been using most of them as highlighters and eyeshadows! These fall in between a shimmery and subtle finish. It's not super shimmery, but it's not subtle either! So, it's perfect for those of you that don't want a super shimmery and opaque finish, but want something more than subtle. You can of course build it up for that opaque finish! The formula is really nice on this! It's super smooth and blendable! It's also long wearing!

Such a nice palette!

Since we're on the topic of highlighters, I've been obsessed with the Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powders! If you want that Angel Merino highlight, this product is definitely it! It's super opaque! It has that beautiful shimmery metallic finish. It blends out really nicely! It's very finely milled! It's also very long wearing! As mentioned, since this stuff is super opaque, make sure that you use a smaller highlighter brush and pick up the product little by little! You can easily get carried away with this product! It's also a loose powder, so be careful when you apply it, because you're going to have a bit of fallout! Other than that, if you want to be glowing from 10 miles away, this highlighter is a must have! I have the shades Gold Digger (light gold iridescence) and Coco Bling (light silver iridescence). I definitely need the other shades!

A must have for highlighter junkies!

Moving on, I'm going to be mentioning the Glamglow ThirstyMUD again, because it's been so cold, but my skin has remained hydrated. Every time that I put this mask on, my skin just looks so healthy and nourished! My skin has legit been it's best ever! I can truly say that this product has definitely been a key contribution! I know it's expensive and I know I'll continue talking about it, but it's worth every penny! If you have dry skin, this is a game changer!

Life changing!

Other than that, I've been really liking the Kylie Lip Kits. I've only bought these for reviewing purposes, since a lot of you were requesting it, but I ended up really liking them! I've been getting great use out of Dolce K. It's just that really nice everyday nude. The Lip Liner is creamy and pigmented. It's also long wearing. I've worn this on it's own and it didn't dry out my lips or anything! It's really well formulated! The liquid lipstick itself is also really nice! It's super pigmented and long wearing! It feels really comfortable on the lips. Even when you rub your lips together, it doesn't flake off! I'm doing a in depth review on these kits, so you'll have to wait and see what else I have to say about them!

Dolce K

Lastly, I've been using my Makeup Geek Eyeshadows a lot this month. I just love my custom palette! I have a lot of neutrals and warm tones that I love. I've been doing a lot of "natural" makeup looks lately. Makeup Geek Eyeshadows are so pigmented and buttery smooth! They also blend like a dream and they're long wearing! Makeup Geek has a beautiful shade range and the eyeshadows are super affordable! They also carry many formulas! If you haven't purchased their eyeshadows yet, you're honestly missing out! I'm not going to go into my favorite shades, because I'll be doing a "What's in my Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Palette" in the future!

Almost finished my palette!

That's about it for this Favorites post! I know it wasn't that many products, because I legit just been reusing my old Favorites! So, be sure to check out my previous Favorites! Hopefully my February Favorites will be longer! So ya, the Kylie Lip Kits review should be uploaded soon, along with Disappointing Products of 2016 (I know that I'm super late on this post)! After that, I have some new Bite Beauty products that I want to talk about! So, be sure to be following my blog and my account on Instagram (@divyapatel_mua) to get the latest updates!

January Haul 2017 (Makeup)

Hey guys, I'm bringing to you my January Haul! Before I get into this haul, I just wanted to thank everyone that takes the time to read my blog! I remember when I first started this blog, I wasn't expecting much from it, but last year, I saw a huge potential and growth! Last month, I hit over 10,000 views! It's absolutely crazy, because in the beginning of last year, my goal was to just get 2,000 views a month, now I've raised the bars to 10,000! It's insane how a little hobby can literally turn out to be something big in the future! I definitely want to step up my "blogging game"! I hope that so far, I've been super useful with my reviews and beauty tips! I definitely want to add and do different things to improve my blog! Makeup really taught me to step out of my comfort zone and to just go for it! Even if the dream seems too big or unrealistic, anything is possible! So, I just wanted to say thank you again! I'm sorry for rambling on, but let's get into this haul! I haven't shopped that much this month, but I did receive all the packages that I ordered during the holidays! I've picked up some really interesting things, so let's get into it!

My first haul of 2017!

I finally purchased from Kylie Cosmetics! I got a lot of people asking me about her Lip Kits! So, I decided to finally purchase them! I bought the shades Dolce K (medium-dark beige nude), Love Bite (medium plum brown) and Vixen (dark plum). Vixen was a part of the holiday limited edition collection! Last time that I checked, it was still available, so you may want to get your hands on it! I won't be talking too much about these, because I'll be reviewing them soon, so stay tuned for that! But, I love the shades that I picked up! They suit almost any makeup look!

The Kylie Lip Kits!

Next, I received my order from Beautylish. I decided to order from them, because the Jouer Lip Toppers were back in stock! I picked up the shades Frost Bite (shimmery pearl) and Skinny Dip (shimmery golden nude)! These are super shimmery and gorgeous! They make absolutely gorgeous lip toppers for any shade! I also picked up their Long Wear Lip Creme in Papaye, which is a gorgeous metallic warm peach. Lastly, I picked up Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Designer Blood (dark rusty red). It's a beautiful winter shade! I've only swatched these products, but they feel and look amazing! I can't wait to create looks with them!

You can never have too many lip products!

I also ordered from Makeup Geek. They were having a sale on their eyeshadows, so I just had to get them! Makeup Geek has one of the best eyeshadow formulas! They're amazing in quality at an affordable price! I'll be doing a "What's in my Makeup Geek Palette", once I complete my palette! The shades that I picked up are Grandstand (foiled medium rose gold with taupe undertones), I'm Peachless (duochrome that has a beige base with peachy pink reflects), Wild West (rosey brown), Cosmopolitan (rose gold with gold shimmer), Glamorous (medium bronze gold), Tan Lines (warm medium brown), Pocket Change (light-medium bronze) and Mermaid (cool tone teal). I've used Tan Lines and Pocket Change, which are absolutely stunning! They make the perfect combination! Tan Lines is a really nice shade to pop in the crease! I can't wait to complete my Makeup Geek Palette!

I love these shades!

I actually didn't pick up that many products from Sephora. I think I did enough damage during the VIB sale! I picked up the Dr Jart's Masking All The Way set, which comes with 7 sheet masks! It came with the Brightening Infusion, All That Contours, Pore Master, 2 Water Replenishment and 2 Pore Minimalists masks.  I've tried the Water Replenishment mask and I really liked it! The set was overall a good value, so it's a great way  to test out their masks! Let me know if you guys want a review on any of these masks!

I love sheet masks!

I also went into my local Sephora to pick up the The Estee Edit Gritty & Glow Magnetic Eye and Face Palettes. I've swatched this before in store and I fell in love with the swatches! Both palettes are so pigmented and smooth! You get a ton of product in each palette! The Gritty Magnetic Eye Palette has beautiful jewel tones that captured my attention! They're the perfect statement colors! I definitely need to start playing with more color, so I can't wait! The Glow Face Palette also has super wearable colors! You can even use them as eyeshadows! I find for the price, this is an amazing set!

Aren't these palettes stunning?!

Moving along, I finally picked up The Tamanna Set from Bombay Hair. I've been wanting this set forever, but I was just not ready to splurge. I decided to just go for it! This set comes with a Flat Iron, 3 in 1 Interchangeable Curling Wand, Curling Wand Stand, Heat Resistant GloveTeezing Comb and Hair Clips. I need to learn to do hair for my own sake. I really need to start styling my hair differently, so this set is perfect to get me out of my comfort zone! I still haven't played with this. If you guys want me to review it, let me know!

The Tamanna Set!

Lastly, I purchased from Lancome online. They released the La Rose A Poudrer, which I just had to get! It's basically a rose that comes in a box with highlighter all over it. The shade is a beautiful light pink. It's honestly a stunning and unique concept. However, the amount of product that you get is definitely not worth the price! I was a little disappointed! I posted the full review here! I decided to keep it, since it's unique! It's legit only for collection purposes!

It truly is stunning!

That's it for my haul! Thank you for taking the time to read it! I'll be uploading my Favorites post soon! After that, I have my Kylie Lip Kit review! I'll try my best to post more in February and get up all the late posts! Of course, if you guys would like me to review anything in particular or talk about anything, please feel free to leave me a comment!
