MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation |
I'll start with the packaging. It comes in a black tube. You just twist the cap off and squeeze out the product. It's not big and bulky, which makes it easy to travel with. The bottom of the packaging is clear, so you can see the foundation color. It comes with 25 ml of product and costs $38.50CAD. MAC has 16 different shades for this foundation! If you're curious, I got the shade NC42, which matches me really nicely! I highly recommend you go to your local MAC store to choose your shade, because online they're pretty off! My shade looks a lot darker online than in person!

My shade NC42 |
I love MAC, but in the past their foundations never worked for me! Like five years ago, I tried the regular Pro Longwear foundation and it broke me out badly (however my skin was more sensitive back then)! What drew me into this new foundation is the fact that it said it was waterproof. Therefore, I really wanted to try it out to see if it's true and if it will last on my face longer than the other foundations! This foundation also doesn't have SPF, which is something I wanted for events and weddings! In case you didn't know, if a foundation has SPF, it normally causes flashback in pictures! If I'm outside in the sun, I prefer something that has a high SPF, so this isn't the best option, unless you put sunscreen under! Also, online it said that it could wear for 24 hours and it's budge proof, which also drew my attention.
I played with this foundation for over a month now. It feels so light on the skin, but has that medium to full coverage! It's not as thick as the Kat Von D lock it tattoo foundation, but the coverage is similar! You need very little of this product to cover your whole face! It also doesn't look cakey, which is something I really like! It has a satin finish, which looks natural! It also doesn't budge at all and it's actually waterproof! You can sweat and cry all you want, but this foundation will not move around! Also, it doesn't transfer onto your clothes, which is something I really like! However, even though it doesn't budge, you'll still get oily! I basically have combination skin (more on the oily side) and I still get oily like I normally do. Also, this foundation oxidizes a bit! After a few minutes, it looked slightly darker, but it wasn't a huge difference!

What the foundation looks on me (no flash/no edits) |
I wore this foundation to work several times. When I first applied it, I felt like the foundation just grabbed onto my skin. Not in a good way though. It felt really dry (I never used a foundation before that made me feel dry), so I can't imagine how this would feel on someone that has dry skin! On shifts that I worked 5 hours, I needed minimal touch ups. I just had to powder my t-zone and forehead, but it lasted throughout my shift, even if I was running around everywhere! There were several times that I had this foundation on for more than 10 hours and I had to do touch ups or else I looked like an oily mess! However, the foundation still lasted on my skin pretty well! It didn't fade away or looked like it was melting off my face. There was even this day that I had this foundation on for 16 hours and it still lasted on my face throughout the day (just my t zone and forehead I had to touch ups like usual)! I'm just really amazed that it doesn't budge! Whether you're 5 or 16 hours in with this foundation, it will stay on your face! Normally, even if I set my face with powder and setting spray, within 8-9 hours, my other foundations starts to move around a little. Therefore, my recommendations are if you have combination skin, this would be a nice foundation for you. However, if you have oily skin, you will get oily, even if you use a primer or a setting spray/powder! It may not be worth it for you! If you have dry skin, this foundation won't work for you either! Even if you apply a moisturizer, it will still grab onto your skin and it'll make you feel dry.
In terms of application, I find my Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush worked perfectly! I love this foundation brush and I use it for all my foundations! I also find a damped Beauty Blender (the original pink one) also works nicely with this product! I just don't recommend you use a Duo Fiber brush! It's hard to work with this foundation in stippling motion. It will just leave a unnatural and cakey finish. Also, it' really easy to take off this foundation! You can use makeup wipes, cleansers, the makeup eraser or even just warm water!
That's it for this foundation! If you don't want to commit to a full size, just ask for a sample! I'm on the fence about this foundation. I don't think it's the best one in the market, but it's still a nice foundation! Like I said, if you have combination skin, it's worth giving it a try! Let me know your thoughts on this foundation or which foundation you love to wear during the summer!
